FOUNDER

Daniel Rentz

Founder & Senior Editor

I started OilSensei because the essential-oil internet was full of confident claims and short on citations. I wanted a place I could send my own family that took the science seriously, was honest about uncertainty, and never sold them anything in disguise.

HOW I WORK

Editorial standards.

Every OilSensei guide goes through the same process. Here is what that looks like, and what it explicitly does not include.

  • Research first, AI-assisted

I pull peer-reviewed research from PubMed, Cochrane, and primary journals. AI helps me gather and surface relevant studies; it does not write the verdicts. I read the studies and decide.

  • Heavily edited by a human

Every guide is rewritten and fact-checked by hand before publishing. If a claim cannot be sourced, it does not run.

  • Reader-supported, transparently

Some links are affiliate links. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Recommendations are based on independent research, not paid placements.

  • Updated as the science evolves

When new research lands, I revisit affected guides and flag what changed. Publish dates and updated dates are visible at the top of every post.

  • What we don't do

No sponsored guides. No paid placements. No pay-to-review. No medical advice. For anything beyond general wellness, please consult a qualified professional.
